Frosty Camp 2016 – Final Letter

Dear Parent/Carer

I am sure you are all busy helping your Scout pack their own bag and name their clothes (this is important if we are to cut down on lost property at the end of the camp). Attached is the permission to camp form, please fill in and return, I would also like to take this opportunity to do some kit list reminders:

Outdoor Shoes These need to either be a walking shoe or a study boot trainer – part of the outdoor activities involve using axes therefore it is imperative for safety reasons they wear the appropriate footwear. Unfortunately, if you send your Scout on camp without appropriate footwear they will have to sit the activity out.  If you would like some guidance on this then please let me know. Don’t forget to pack indoor shoes or slippers as we do not want muddy footprints inside!!

Outdoor Waterproofs  Whilst we are camping indoors, all activities are outdoors so again it is important that your child has a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers if you have them – if it is raining we still carry on – a cold wet child is not easy to motivate if they do not have the correct outdoor wear.  This does not need to be anything expensive in fact we would prefer if they leave their designer coats/clothes at home as camps can be wet and muddy.

Scout Uniform  All Scouts and Leaders are expected to arrive at Scout HQ on Friday in their scout uniform – shirt, scarf, activity trousers and belt. We will make an exception for shoes, we are happy for them to wear clean trainers/clean boots.  They will get an opportunity to change when they arrive so please do not pack their uniform into their kit.

Pocket Money/Cake  Pocket money is not required for this camp. It is a camping tradition for Scouts to bring a cake or cupcakes to the camp, homemade ones are always the best!!

Medication  If your child requires medication whilst away on camp please put this into a clear bag with an instruction sheet enclosed and hand to Elaine when you arrive.  If your child is asthmatic it is really important that they have a spare inhaler – trying to find missing inhalers in the middle of the campsite is an impossible task. Please note aspirins, paracetamol or ibuprofen tablets must not be packed in your Scouts kit/wash bags. If you think this or calpol may be needed please hand in with instructions.

Mobile Phones/Electronic Equipment  Please do not send your scout with mobile phones, DS, ipods or any other electronic equipment.   The meet time on Friday 29th Jan, is 6.00pm at The Scout Campsite, Easterfield Lane, Watcombe.

Collection of your Scout is on Sunday 31st at 2.00pm from the campsite.

The In Touch Contact for the camp is Clare Willox and she can be reached on Mobile No: 07867 974567

Please direct all urgent enquiries to her whilst we are on camp.  Equally if we need to contact you, the call will be made via the In Touch Contact, she will be in contact with you as per the contact details you have supplied us. If you have any questions regarding the above, or the camp in general please contact us.

Regards

John Harrison
